I can confirm there’s a substantial improvement between the two consoles, with the Series S seeing brightly coloured environments afforded more vibrancy and the muddy roads displaying finer detail. I was able to play through Dirt 5 in its entirety on Xbox Series S, using the Xbox One S as a compari son for the generational leap. However, with Codemasters opting for a cartoonish visual aesthetic over the realistic graphics typically found with racers, it may not be the spectacular showcase that prospective PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S fans were hoping for. This means visuals appear significantly smoother when speeding around a tight bend or racing with several other vehicles on one screen. In a similar vein, Dirt 5 has become the first racer to introduce variable refresh rates to consoles, allowing you to whack the frame rate up to a dizzying 120fps if you own the compatible hardware. Unfortunately.Dirt 5 has found itself to be the sole racer in the next-gen lineup for the PS5 and Xbox Series X, with the genre renowned for showcasing the graphical horsepower of new consoles.įrom Ridge Racer on the PS1 to Forza Motorsport 5 on Xbox One, racers have historically taken advantage of new hardware by introduce jaw-dropping features such as 3D graphics and photorealistic visuals. I can't say I didn't have fun, I did for the first 2 hours. No lobbies, no meetings, nothing interesting or compelling to make people return. Not when you have games that are better at being Dirt than Dirt itself. Not when you have racing games that are not rally games, but still surpass Dirt in rally mechanics. When you're in the 20's competing with massive racing games you can't focus on a single racing type and be mediocre about it. The game isn't accomplishing much unfortunately, specially from the same guys behind the awesome Colin McRae games. That was a bad touch, and it is indeed a part of the game, but I also don't think trophy difficulties are tied to game quality so I won't count this one in, but I needed to let it out of my chest regardless. Meaning the amount of time it took you to beat everything is the same amount of time it will take you to complete a single trophy that should have been half of what it demands. At some point you will have absolutely everything done, completely, you're done with the game, you've beaten every possible challenge, but you still only have about 400-500 miles driven. But if I even mention trophies, let's talk about the 1000 miles trophy that take nearly forever to naturally get. Gymkhana was the worst mode the game could have, specially being tied to a trophy. Slow speeds, drift, hold the trigger and wait for the race to finish. I expected the game to get more intense, but everything remained the same. Most vehicles don't really feel like a different drive experience. It didn't took long to become repetitive. The style, the cars, the engine sound, the different type of races and the handling felt pretty good, but it didn't last long. The style, the cars, the engine sound, the different type of races and the Dirt started pretty well for me. 8/10 currently … Expandĭirt started pretty well for me. Superb EDIT : some slowdown has been introduced in latest patch that wasn’t there previously, so would deduct 2 points for that. I was totally not expecting the title to be this good. If only DriveClub could be re-released on PS5 with 60FPS, that was the only thing stopping the title being a huge system seller for PS4 and Pro! As a launch title for PS5, I think it has the best graphics on any title, including Miles Morales & Demon Souls ! I don’t think Dirt 5 marketing team have really promoted this as well as they should have. I have just spent 5hrs solid and I’m addicted to it. The dev team are fairly local to where I live and I am so glad they are back on track with this title. Wheel support is fantastic with good handling feel over different surfaces and conditions and FFB works nicely with a T300RS Thrustmaster. Silky smooth 60FPS graphics in quality mode (same in online races). This is like the DriveClub that was meant to be, only wider variety of vehicle types and surfaces. This is Never bought a Dirt Game since Dirt Rally (PSVR version) but as this was only racing game at launch, took a shot.
